Lessons are available for all skill levels in both english and western disciplines, with focus on building a strong bond of trust and communication between horse and rider. Meet the instructors
Laura Mauck
Specializing in hunter/jumper and dressage, Laura is an integral part of the Slash /J/ Slash lesson program with over 25 years of experience in the industry. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Business Management and Riding at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, Laura went on to train numerous horses and riders to success at the regional and national level through her Woodside, California based training business.
Based in Grand Lake since 2019, she is known by her students for her positive and compassionate approach to training, as well as her ability to tailor her methods to meet the unique needs of each horse and rider. In addition to her work as a trainer, Laura also offers clinics and workshops to help riders improve their skills and deepen their understanding of horsemanship.

At the Slash J Slash, we pride ourselves on our deep connection to the land and the animals that call this place home. Our experienced stable managers, Tyler Klees and Laura Mauck, bring a patient, compassionate, and authentic approach to their work, helping horses and riders to develop a strong bond of trust and communication. With our close proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park and the stunning natural scenery of Grand Lake, our boarders have access to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the country. We are excited to embark on this new chapter in the ranch’s history and to continue sharing our knowledge and passion with the Grand Lake community.
